Glasses - Day 1
The doctor mentioned that Ella may not put up too much of a fuss with her new glasses because she will finally be able to see. However, there is already a small battle going on around the house. While she is preoccupied, Ella doesn't realize that her glasses are on and she will leave them be. So, while she was eating and doing a puzzle, she kept them on for the most part. But once we sat down to watch a few cartoons before bed, she didn't want to keep them on. I'm sure that this is going to be a transitional period for her. I can even relate because it is not always easy to adjust to wearing glasses at first. So, day one at home, she wore them for about an hour to one hour and a half total. Tomorrow she will wear them to school and hopefully her teachers will help her keep them on.

Glasses sneak preview
Ella got fitted for her eyeglasses this afternoon and everything went great. The lenses are now on order and should arrive to the doctor in a week and then they will get shipped to us. They are pink plastic with the wrap around ear style to keep them on her face. Here is a little picture of what the frames are going to look like. And also a picture of Ella trying on Mama's sunglasses.

Last tumbling class
Ella had her last tumbling class this past Saturday. She did really great with stretches and warm ups for the first time. However, she didn't really want to do much on the balance beam and she just wanted to play with the plastic balls.
Here she is doing the "bye-bye song"

Tongue twister
Once Ella figured out how to say her name, she didn't want to stop. Now anytime we ask her what her name is, she is quick to say "Ella." Although sometimes it seems like she doesn't know what to do with her tongue :)

To see or not to see...
It's no longer a question. Ever since Ella was 9 months old we noticed that her right eye would cross pretty often. Specifically when she is trying to focus on things close up, her eye will wander in. We went and saw a pediatric opthamologist today at Good Shephard Hospital and found out a lot of great information. The office staff and doctor were extremely nice and the doctor even said that Ella was extremely well-behaved for her age and that is was a great visit overall.
The verdict is that Ella is extremely far-sighted. So, she has a very hard time focusing on things close up and even on things far away at times. She is going to need to wear glasses for a while (if not the rest of her life). We go back in about a week for a fitting on the frames and then we will order the lenses. So, the next two weeks will be the last that we will see without glasses on our little girl.
Thanks for reading and pictures from Mother's Day and "Elmo Makes Music" to follow tomorrow evening.
